Can we imagine that the head priest in a church is an intelligent humanoid endowed with high morality, rationality and wisdom. It will be possible with the advent of Artificial intelligent (AI) machines. A well programmed machine can work well. The robot will be able to use its intelligence to solve problems without the problem of human error and human fatigue.

In artificial intelligence (AI), we program machines how to think like humans based on mathematical models we have made. By AI, we can make machines do simple to complex tasks depending on our requirements. The goal of AI is learning, reasoning and perception.

AI has applications in different sectors. Such machines can do simple particular tasks like playing chess with humans to doing complex tasks like driving cars, finding treatment and diagnosis options in advanced health care settings.

Such machines work on the data fed into them. There is a question of human rationality vs machine rationality. The answer is that like in the story in the opening of this text, a super rational humanoid priest can be made in future with that machine possessing high degree of ethics based on the data fed into it. Probably we could call that humanoid a wise machine with high degree of wisdom from its super human like behaviour.

Just opposite to that, autonomous weaponized machines can also be made. If high degree of war prompting data is fed into it that machine will cause mass causality and can be detrimental to humanity. It all depends on what data is fed into the processor of machine and what more likely outcome of action is expected of the machine by the programmer.

Coming to common man’s apprehension of AI machines replacing human jobs; new job avenues will be created with new technology like all new technologies have so far done. Historically, when technological advances like mechanization and computers came, we had the same apprehensions. But mechanization and computers have made our lives easy. We are mostly paranoid of AI machines and compare them to Frankenstein. We never think about a saint like humanoid, the other extreme of destroyer machines. AI machines are smart and not scary if judiciously programmed.

Advantages of AI are that we will make smart computers that can be trained to do specialized tasks by processing large amount of data recognizing patterns of data fed into it. Machines have no fatigue, they have high accuracy and they analyze more and deeper data. Best AI machines have competitive advantage over human processing.

Machines learn from data fed into them. So it is important what data is fed into it. Imagine AI in movies is science fiction mostly. Though they are often exaggerated versions, some of the aspects shown in movies can become reality in future but not all of them like predicting a doomsday.

Do AI machines have reasoning power by thinking humanly and rationally? Do AI machines act humanly and rationally? It all depends on what data is fed into them and for what purpose they are built for. Smart machines will choose the best beneficial options for humanity from a pool of options that contain detrimental options as well by smart processing of data. Smart AI machines analyse environment and choose actions that maximize success and efficiency.

Human intelligence (HI) is a quality of mind. The natural human intelligence is the ability to learn from experience, adapt to new situations and ability to change environment using that knowledge. Obviously human intelligence is more complex than AI, at least in the current time and space of humanity. With AI around us, what holds for future is dynamic and evolutionary.

Some of the advantages of AI over human intelligence (HI) are- smart machines have high speed and good execution power. AI machines are less biased and more accurate. AI gives advantages to work sector like satisfying jobs can be done by workers and boring jobs can be given to machines. AI brings language divides down by efficient translations, AI can make efficient government and efficient health care services. AI machines will be the new artists of future with they performing creative arts.

Ultimately there is a notion of human ingenuity over machines. Humans will and have always come up with ingenuity of problem solving when they were challenged. So humans will never have an existential threat from machines because of human beings’ ingenuity. Remember that AI machines are created by humans while human intelligence (HI) is created by God, the ultimate programmer.

AI will make world a better place by mitigating problems faced by human beings. AI machines are the future of humanity. Only Pessimistic people see a doomsday with AI machines. AI does less risk to humanity. AI will continue to evolve to fit the need of the future. AI research is dynamic and futuristic.
